A Juicy Holiday Story | The L.B.D.
It is said, that during the 1920s Coco Chanel more or less invented the beloved Little Black Dress. The classic wardrobe essential curiously walks the impossible line between timeless and modern, perhaps more so than any other item. So, the next time you’re in fashion doubt, reach for your L.B.D.—whatever your version is—and whisper a little thanks to CC.

Clever Couture | 5 Genius Styling Tips

The ever clever Elizabeth Kiester offers up five wickedly useful, and fashionable, styling tips. If not all at once, we plan to adopt them all. Enjoy! xx

1. Coco Chanel used to say something like, “pile everything on and then take one thing off.” I like to stick to this fashion philosophy—you can really never get too much of a good thing. Never, ever!

2. Rules are meant to be broken. Wear white after Labor Day—it’s mod, it’s sharp, it’s cool. Mix gold & silver—why the heck not? Wear tons of bangles that jingle-jangle—fashion should be musical and fun! Cover your favorite bag with safety pins and badges. Rules are boring—taking risks is where the fashion action is!

3. Clean your favorite, well-loved rubber rain boots with Armor-All wipes to clean off that weird white film that seems to grow on the boots every season. You can get the wipes in the car-care section of your local drug store.

4. Your local shoe repair shop should be your go-to place for fashion updates. They will transform your old hip-slung belts into high waist cinchers just by punching out a few extra holes. Have them dye your old red shoes a deep shade of cabernet. Ask them to shorten the straps on that out-of-date tote you used to love so much.

5. Wear shades of the same color all in one outfit. A red sweater looks gorgeous with bordeaux boots and a hot pink gemstone necklace. Wear olive green with emerald green and add a splash of neon lime. Black + charcoal grey + athletic grey = chic!
